We’re excited to share something brand new with you: Supernotes VR for the Meta Quest platform. While experimenting with virtual reality in the office much to our co-workers’ delight, we noticed there were no notes apps available for Meta Quest headsets – even though it’s a wonderful device for productivity. So today we’re launching Supernotes VR for Meta Quest. If you have a headset, download it here.
With recent price drops, Meta Quest headsets are becoming an affordable and useful way to enjoy VR at home and the office. We anticipate that productivity will boom in virtual reality as more and more of these headsets become common. In 2025, there are over 20 million Meta Quest headsets, whereas there are less than 1 million Apple Vision Pro headsets. With our Supernotes iPad app already catering to a Vision Pro audience, we wanted to bring Supernotes VR into the hands of the masses with Meta Quest.
We’ve also been blown away by the improvements to hand tracking on the Quest headset. Paired with a bluetooth keyboard, experiencing Supernotes on a virtual 40” inch screen is breathtaking and super easy to use. Here’s a quick 3 minute demo of Tobias taking notes in VR:
Everything you can do in our mobile & desktop apps you can now do in VR. We initially jumped on the idea of walking through your notes in a 3D immersive graph view, however in practice we didn’t like it. Motion sickness, as well as finding enough space to move about was a big challenge and it didn’t feel as good as we imagined. So for our first VR app we decided to stick with having a flat screen approach to Supernotes. Using your hands to interact with, scrolls through cards and pan / zoom the graph view – in itself feels magical, especially when paired with a keyboard.
Since you can generate web links of Supernotes cards, you can pop them out into your browser window and place them around your room or desk space. Using this mixed reality and deeplinks, the “Open in Supernotes” buttons serves as a great quick way to resurface them in the Supernotes app.
We anticipate notes in VR to be perfect for taking notes in deep work – able to block out all your surroundings. Or use it side by side as a note-taking companion when tackling difficult puzzle games or watching YouTube videos. The convenience of popping your headset on or off and automatically having all your notes synced on all your devices is unparalleled.
