Bold Text in Markdown

To bold text in Markdown, wrap the text you want to bold in either double asterisks (**) or double underscores (__). For example:

Using Underscores

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Here’s a quick list to ensure your bold text renders correctly in Markdown:

  • Make sure there are no spaces between the asterisks/underscores and the text</mark. ** bold text ** will not work.
  • Mixing asterisks and underscores for bolding a single word or phrase is not allowed. For example, **bold text__ will not render correctly.
